Ben Gamble - Managing Director

Managing Director

Ben is the head of Cuttlestones and oversees all aspects of the business. Ben’s primary focus is to source and catalogue the quarterly fine art sales. His greatest find to date was a Thomas Sidney Cooper oil painting of huge proportions found on its side in a barn passageway, which realised £51000 back in October 2008.

 

Ben has now retired from his Sunday morning football career and has decided Golf is now the game to conquer...!

   
Rosie Blackburn - Client Manager

Client Manager

Rosie has responsibilities in all areas of the business. Her primary role is managing the clients that come through the doors both at Penkridge and Wolverhampton. Based at Penkridge, Rosie also has expert knowledge of antique maps and books, with over 20 years expeience in the field.

Rosie is also a member of the successful Cuttlestones pub quiz team.

Auctioneer Dave loves nothing more than the buzz of a sale day. He has a broad knowledge of antiques & collectables and, although his main area of expertise lies in antique and modern silver and jewellery, he is always trying to satisfy his thirst for knowledge in other specialist areas like sporting memorabilia and his favourite new sale feature - fine wines, ports & cognacs.

 

In his spare time Dave is a keen triathlete, indulges in his passion for all things Italian and would welcome any tests on his Italian vocabulary.
   
Debbie Curtis - Office Manager

Penkridge Office Manager

Debbie was a longstanding client of Cuttlestones before joining the team in 2010. She is the first point of contact with clients coming through the door at Penkridge and keeps the office running smoothly.

Debbie has an interest in all items Art Deco and has good knowledge of the period.

Stephanie Taylor

With a background in web design and development, Stephanie's technical know-how means she's a real asset as the online cataloguing and bidding side of the business continues to expand.

 

Splitting her time between the Penkridge and Wolverhampton sale rooms, she's another friendly face behind the reception desk with Debbie, Rosie and Libby.

   

Thomas Waldron

Wolverhampton Saleroom Manager

Tom joined the Cuttlestones team in 2011. As well as managing the complicated logistical operations of a busy saleroom, Tom also deals with much of the cataloguing and valuing of items found in the Specialist Collectors' sales. His experties lie in the fields of sporting memorabilia as well as signed ephemera, and music and entertainment memorabilia. With a background in the arts, a Master’s degree in Irish theatre, and a passion for antiques he is an excellent candidate to push the Wolverhampton auction room forward.
 

   
Richard Forrester - Logistics Manager

Richard Forrester

Logistics Manager

Richard has been brought on board to help develop the ever growing logistical operations that are a key part of a busy auction house. Richard's role involves key client liaisons and involvement in the entire process to ensure that everything from single item collections to complete house clearances are carried out with fluidity, punctuality and care. This is particularly important when deadlines such as property contract exchanges are brought into consideration.

 

In his spare time Richard is keen to develop his knowledge base of recycling and renewable energy sourcing and is currently studying for his Masters in Architecture, Advanced Enviromental & Energy Studies.

   
Will Coxon - Auction Porter

Will Coxon

Removals and Auction Porter

Will is normally found carrying anything that may be heavy!

 

Will is an avid Wolverhampton Wanderers fan and has high hopes of success for the ‘Wolves’. Will is also a keen fisherman in his spare time.

Allen primarily assists Ben with valuations on the road covering all areas of the West Midlands. Allen’s expertise lies within the Toys and Railways Collectors fields.

Allen is another member of the Cuttlestones Sunday night quiz team.

Auction porter

Brian can normally be found portering at the fortnightly Home, Garden and Collectors’ Sales or the quarterly Fine Art Sales as well as at the various location sales Cuttlestones holds throughout the year.

 

With a farming background, Brian has also developed his own Belted Galloway Pedigree herd and sells the beef - ask for a leaflet!

After 30-year career in the Staffordshire Police Force, Andy took retirement keen to pursue his other interests. He is a useful addition to the Cuttlestones team, managing the logistics of a busy auction house as well as assisting at pre-auction viewings and on sale days. Andy enjoys skiing and is a keen horseman; taking part in local equestrian one day events & competitions.

   
Adrian Simmons

Adrian Simmons

Valuer

Based at Wolverhampton, Adrian has vast knowledge of antiques and specializes in all things Medals, Militaria and Coins, but also enjoys helping out with his other key area of interest - oriental ceramics and works of art.

 

When not engrossed in antiques Adrian can usually be found in a field with his trusty metal detector searching for the next ‘Staffordshire hoard’.

William Lacey

Picture Consultant

William is an independent picture consultant with over 30 years experience as Head of Picture Departments for auction houses in London, Cheshire and Shropshire. In addition to a broad knowledge of paintings, he has an interest in all things sporting, particularly fishing tackle.

   
David Spencer - Jewellery Consultant

David Spencer

Jewellery Consultant

David Spencer has over 23 years' experience in the jewellery industry. With a family background in the jewellery trade, he spent more than 17 years training, designing and manufacturing in Birmingham's famous jewellery quarter before relocating in 2004 to Eccleshall in Staffordshire and opening his own shop.

 

David is well known for his role in the community - an active member of the Eccleshall Business Focus Group, he is also governor at Bishop Lonsdale Primary School which his daughters attend.

   
Geoff Milsom - Stamp Consultant

Geoff Milsom

Stamp Consultant

Geoff Milsom is a leading international supplier of stamp collections and lots to smaller dealers and collectors. As such, he has a worldwide knowledge of stamps from 1840 to 1960. In 1985 he joined the Philatelic Traders Society and has served on Council since 1998. Along with his wife, Gina, he has traded as Geoff Milsom (Stamps) PTS since 1985.

Andrew has been in the licensing trade for over 30 years, with six of these being spent as commercial manager of the Bordeaux cru classe Chateaux Lascombes in Margaux. Now the proprietor at Old School Wines, Andrew is on hand to value everything wine-related; from single bottle consignments to full cellar appraisals.
