From initial site visit and consultation through to clearance, the valuation and sale of items - even the cleaning of the property itself - we can take care of the entire process. Whether a small terraced house, a village cottage, a suburban semi or a country manor we’ll take the same exceptional level of care. Over the years we’ve uncovered valuable finds in the most unexpected places – tucked away in an unused draw or hidden in an attic corner – and gone on to realise the best possible price on behalf of the vendor at auction.
Whether you’re acting on behalf of a client or are a private individual Cuttlestones will arrange a free, no obligation appointment at the property in question. Confidential, professional advice on the house clearance process is then given; whether you’re looking to remove specific items or clear an entire property. This allows you to make an informed decision on which house clearance service option is right for you. To discuss our house clearance service in more detail contact us at either our Penkridge or Wolverhampton sale rooms.
There are any number of companies out there offering house clearance services but, by selecting an established auction house to undertake the entire process on your behalf, you can rest assured of getting the best possible service. Benefits of our house clearance service include:
Our initial visit is undertake free of charge. We will assess the property’s contents and offer you honest, expert advice as to its likely value and the best route forward. There is no obligation to continue with our service at this point.
If you decide to use our house clearance service, we will empty the house of its contents and draw on our expertise to sort the items according to their potential value. We can then provide estimated values on items that we believe are worth selling at auction.
While some companies will offer house clearances they won’t actually sell items on your behalf at auction, and instead will simply remove items. We can offer to sell items of value at auction on your behalf - either via our Home, Garden and Collectors’ sales or Fine Art sales, depending on their estimated value – giving you the opportunity to get the best possible return on any items of value.
As part of our house clearance service we offer to do everything – right down to cleaning the property once it’s been cleared – on your behalf. This allows you to sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that the clearance of your property is in the best hands.

Following the death of the son of famed artist Arnold Machin, who was responsible for the creation of the iconic image of HM Queen Elizabeth II that appears on UK postage stamps, Cuttlestones was commissioned to undertake the clearance, valuation and sale of items accumulated during the family’s residence at this imposing Georgian country house.
The scale of the collection was phenomenal; items ranged from pieces of original Machin artwork to furniture, ceramics, farming machinery and aircraft parts. The clearance took several months, with the Cuttlestones team painstakingly valuing and cataloguing each item and presenting the house and its contents for viewing at a series of open events. The resulting two sales, one of which took place at the manor itself and the other at The Moat House Hotel, Acton Trussell, realised in excess of £300,000.

The estate achieved some impressive results at auction, with the Youngs praising Cuttlestones’ efficiency and the prices realised.
