Ranging from actual aircraft parts to memorabilia, photographs, model kits, books, magazines, and stamps the lots cover pretty much anything that is collectable and linked to aviation. Highlights include A GERMAN INCENDIARY BOMB TAIL FIN, believed to have been dropped in London in the 1940 Blitz, together with a British artillery shell nose cone and a circular plexi-glass window, expected to fetch £20-40.

Carrying an estimate of £100-200 and sold with related provenance are TWO PIECES OF WING AND FUSELAGE CANVAS FROM THE HURRICANE MKI VT-ASM. The RAF Museum at Hendon has confirmed they originate from the aeroplane with RAF Serial no P3835. Delivered in 1940 to 246 Squadron based at Aldergove, Northern Ireland it was transferred to 315 (Deblin) (Polish) Squadron in 1941 and later in the same year to 303 (Polish) Squadron at Speke, Liverpool. In 1944, it was transferred to 1825 Squadron A.T.C at East Finchley where it became a "Gate Guardian" and was scrapped on-site post war.

Other sections of aircraft set to come under the hammer include AN ENGLISH ELECTRIC F.3 LIGHTNING ROLLS-ROYCE AVON ENGINE REAR COVER and a HONEYWELL MARK 6 PERISCOPE, understood to be from a 1942 Sherman tank and carrying serial no 139122, both for sale with no estimate.
Moving away from physical components of aircraft, a copy of the rare book WING-COMMANDER A. H. ORLEBAR - 'SCHNEIDER TROPHY' published by Seeley Service & Co, in its dustjacket and together with three more modern books on the ‘Schneider Trophy' is estimated at £40 – 60.

Finally, expected to fetch between £500-800, is an extensive collection of photographs of military and civil aircraft, each identified and dated to the back. With images that date from 1948 - 1982 and including helicopters they were taken at various locations including Greenham Common, Le Bourget, Biggin Hill and Winthorpe. Many have negatives included and the lot is completed with a collection of scrap books and related ephemera covering Air Show programmes, history booklets, maps, aviation related magazines –a veritable treasure-trove for aviation fans.

The lots will come under the hammer at Cuttlestones’ Specialist Collectors’ Sale at Wolverhampton Auction Room on Friday 7th December. The fully illustrated catalogue will is available online via www.cuttlestones.co.uk and viewing will take place from 10am – 7pm on Thursday 6th December and on the morning of the sale.
