Staffordshire auction house Cuttlestones raised over £200 for Children in Need following the auction of a specially commissioned ‘Blush the bear’ cake at its November 27th Fine Art sale.
Created to look like Pudsey bear’s new girlfriend by local cake sculptress Heather Sweet, renowned for her wacky and wonderful designs, the cake was snapped up by an anonymous bidder for £90. The fund pot was further boosted when the buyer requested that the cake be cut into portions and sold around the sale room; when added to collections taken in the office, the total sum raised topped £200. Ben Gamble, MD and head auctioneer of Cuttlestones says:
“We were keen to do our bit for Children in Need - it’s such a great cause - and we were delighted with the result. Everyone really got into the spirit and donated generously. We’d like to especially thank the very generous bidder who so generously donated their purchase to raise further funds, and Heather Sweet for making the fantastic cake; it tasted just as great as it looked!”
