Local auctioneer ‘lends a gavel’ to Help for Heroes fundraisers
MD and head auctioneer of Penkridge-based Cuttlestones Auctioneers & Valuers, Ben Gamble, is lending his services at a glittering Charity Ball to help raise funds for two charities dedicated to helping wounded servicemen and women – ‘Help for Heroes’ and ‘Hounds for Heroes’.
While Help for Heroes is focussed on providing direct support to those wounded in service from the Army, Royal Navy and RAF, Hounds for Heroes provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women from both the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services.
The ball is set to take place on Saturday, 17th April at Birmingham’s Jury’s Inn, and, in addition to a delicious three-course meal, the evening’s entertainment will see Matt Croucher GC, the author of best seller Bullet Proof who was awarded the George Cross for his acts of bravery in Afghanistan, talk about his experiences. There will also be a disco and the opportunity to bid on some fantastic items during the charity auction; with lots that include a variety of football and sporting memorabilia alongside event tickets.

Auction highlights include a signed Man Utd football; a copy of ‘Man Down’ signed by author Mark Ormond, a triple amputee who sustained his injuries while serving in Afghanistan; a night’s accommodation for two with breakfast at Jury’s Inn Birmingham; a ‘platinum deluxe’ makeover and photoshoot and tickets to various airshows, football & rugby matches and gala events throughout the year. Ben Gamble is delighted to be able lend his auctioneering services to help boost the bidding and raise as much as possible for the two charities:
“There are very brave men and women out there serving our country and they deserve our wholehearted support – these charities do fantastic work, and I’m proud to be able to help such worthwhile causes.”
Tickets cost £40.00 each (or £400.00 for a table of 10) and include a three course sit-down meal; all proceeds from both the sale of tickets and lots sold during the auction will be split equally between the two charities.
