Cuttlestones to host Penkridge talk on Staffordshire Hoard to boost funds for conservation, interpretation and display...
While the target of £3.3 million to purchase The Staffordshire Hoard has been met well in advance of the cut off date of 17th April, there’s still a long way to go. An estimated further £1.7 million needs to be raised to fund the conservation, interpretation and display of the precious items for all to enjoy.
To help boost the funds, Penkridge auction house Cuttlestones is hosting a talk on the Staffordshire Hoard on Thursday, 29th April. Speaker Steve Dean, Principle Archaeologist at Staffordshire County Council, led the dig and will unravel its mysteries during an hour long presentation that includes video footage and images of the finds.
Supporting the cause to keep such important historic artefacts in the local area is a natural step for Cuttlestones, as Head Auctioneer and MD, Ben Gamble, explains:
“Antique and rare items are the lifeblood of our business - so the campaign to keep such an important piece of history locally is a cause close to our hearts. We’re proud to host what promises to be a fascinating talk that will help shed some light on the mysteries surrounding the hoard.”
The talk will take place at the Cuttlestones’ sale room off Pinfold Lane, Penkridge at 7.30pm for an 8pm start and, with a bar provided by Stone’s Old School Wines, promises to be a very interesting evening. Numbers for the talk are strictly limited and admission is by ticket only. Tickets, which are selling fast, cost £3.50 in advance; all proceeds going toward the fund to conserve, interpret and display this important piece of local history.
To secure your tickets email office@cuttlestones.co.uk along with your name, address and telephone number – alternatively, pop into the saleroom any time from Monday – Friday between 9am & 5pm. For further details visit www.cuttlestones.co.uk or call 01785 714905.
